Requirements
- B.S. in Geomatics, Civil Engineering, Geology, or a related field.
- 1 or more years of experience preferred.
- Computer literate in word processing and spreadsheets.
- Excellent communication skills, including grammar.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including teamwork.
- Must be able to routinely lift/carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds and lift/move equipment up to 75 pounds.
- Must be able to travel offshore and secure passports/visa as needed for travel.
- Must be willing and available for work on short notice. Must live in Norfolk area.
- Support and encourage support for continuous improvement of the company's processes including, but not limited to, the Fugro Atlantic safety program.
- Possession of a valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Applicants must successfully complete a pre-employment physical and drug screen.
Responsibilities
- Configure and operate D/GPS navigation systems and software.
- Configure, calibrate, operate and effectively tune various multi-beam echo sounders, marine geophysical systems and associated sensors.
- Responsible for preparation, quality control of acquired survey data and delivery of data, charts, survey reports, on line logs, record keeping and other mapping products to support projects.
- Analyze and process data using Caris HIP/SIPS, Chesapeake Technology, Sonar Wiz.Map+SBP, and CODA. Ability to process sub-bottom profiler data with Kingdom Suite is desirable.
- Maintain, repair and recover geophysical and hydrographic systems, in the field as well as in the office and tech shop.
- Other duties as assigned.
